Good morning! This will be a good one.

At 1pm EST, I’ll be interviewing Madeline McIntosh about her publishing venture Authors Equity, which made headlines when it launched in 2024, offering a new profit-sharing model to authors, and a chance to be a collaborative partner in the publication process. Before Authors Equity, McIntosh was the US Chief Executive of PRH.

I’ll ask her:

  • About her experience being at the forefront of changes in digital media throughout her career

  • What makes Authors Equity different

  • How acquisitions work at AE

  • What role she plays as publisher during the acquisition process

  • Whether she thinks publishers will increasingly look to sign authors who already have platforms

  • What decisions are typically made during the editorial and production processes without the author’s input and how AE includes the author as a collaborator

  • Whether she thinks the publishing industry has become too big to innovate

I will interview Madeline for about 30 minutes and then open it up to your questions!

If you can’t attend live, there will be a recording available to watch for 7 days.

As a reminder, this is a private, off-the-record conversation, exclusively available to my diamond medallion members. You may not post quotes from the conversation anywhere on the internet, or create content out of my events. Keeping the Chat Room series private allows both me and my guests to speak candidly.
