I donated a kidney to a husband of my friend. Didn’t even know his birthday at the time but it seemed like a good idea since I had 2 and he would otherwise die soothing kater. Worked out great! Didn’t really overthink it.

I highly recommend! Her HBO doc of Kenny G is also hysterically funny (you don’t have to be a Kenny G fan)

I was so excited I could hardly read this, because Penny Lane lived in Troy and left a lot of fantastic marks here! Including, and especially a great movie about Mame Faye’s mythical & real life & impact as our red light district grand dame.

Great interview Leigh! Interesting about Kailyn Lowry. I know of her because I watched that season of 16 and Pregnant but I had no idea that she’d launched a podcast and is so big in the bookfluencer world. Interesting…

I knew a little about the bad art friend (Robert Kolker/NY Times) but this is a whole new page. Thank you for this. I’m also curious to watch Kenny G.

Great interview! Also love the idea of a “memoir plus!” How would you define that?

It’s memoir + another layer of history, cultural criticism, true crime, literary criticism, philosophy, or legal thriller. (e.g., Third Rainbow Girl by Emma Copley Eisenberg; Easy Beauty by Chloé Cooper Jones; Also a Poet by Ada Calhoun; Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson) It’s easier to sell memoir plus today than straight memoir because your reader is getting a 2-for1.
