My god the hype houses. I tried watching content on what I think is Tiktok's top hype house right now: The Bop House. And I just couldn't! I couldn't consume it! I used to not understand how people find this so consumable. But after reading that old Vox article explaining how TikTok shows the "oppressively plain" taste of the majority - I finally got it.

All without missing a mortgage payment!
These are very well paying jobs with lots of security-- unless you really screw something up
But I was shocked at how many journalists think this type of work is beneath them.
These are the same writers who endlessly whine about money and wail about credit card debt but somehow find poverty preferable to ghostwriting think pieces? Go figure.
I hear you! But it’s like switching teams: going from being on the receiving end of PR (and being flattered and schmoozed in the good times) to being the ignored/ghosted publicist

The Gen X piece was so heartbreaking- I also immediately connected it to the hollowing out of all media jobs for Millennials. It's too terrifying to think about another monumental shift/pivot as we all March towards 40...
